Privacy policy
Effective 30 September 2026 · applies to Whense 1.0 and 1.1 for iPhone and Android
In short: your counters stay on your device. Whense has no account, collects no personal data, contains no analytics or advertising, and sends nothing to us or anyone else.
What Whense stores, and where
Everything you enter — counter names, icons, rhythms, the times you log, your reminder and appearance settings — is stored only on your device, inside the app's private storage. We (the makers of Whense) never receive it. Whense 1.0 has no server, and the Android app does not even request permission to use the internet.
Widgets
Whense 1.1 adds widgets, a Lock Screen widget and a Control Center button on iPhone, and Home Screen widgets on Android. They show and update the same counters that are already on your device. On iPhone they read them from a storage area shared only between Whense and its widgets on your phone (an App Group); on Android they run inside the app. Nothing about a widget is sent to us or anyone else.
What we collect
Nothing. Whense has no account or sign-up, and contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting code from us or any third party.
Backups
Your counters are included in your phone's own backup, if you use one: iCloud Backup on iPhone, and Google's backup on Android. Those backups are made and stored by Apple or Google under their privacy policies and your account settings; we can't see them. Moving between iPhone and Android isn't supported.
Notifications
Reminders are local notifications, scheduled on your device. Nothing about them is sent anywhere. On Android, Whense also asks to run briefly after your phone restarts, only to put your reminders back. When your phone is locked, a reminder doesn't show the counter's name unless you allow previews on the lock screen.
Crash reports
If you have chosen to share analytics with Apple (iPhone) or Google (Android), they may pass anonymised crash reports about Whense to us through their developer tools. You control this in your phone's settings; Whense adds nothing of its own.
Deleting your data
- Delete a counter in the app and it moves to Settings › Recently deleted, where you can restore it.
- Settings › Clear all counters removes them from the list (also restorable from Recently deleted).
- Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device. Copies in your phone's backup follow Apple's or Google's backup settings.
Children
Whense collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
This website
whense.app uses no cookies, analytics or trackers, and loads nothing from other sites. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes the technical data every website visit involves, such as your IP address, to deliver and protect the site.
Changes
If a future version adds anything that changes this — for example optional syncing between devices — we will update this policy before that version is released, and the change will be optional.
